GTL-1000 provides integrated workflows for Skanska

To ensure Skanska is delivering precise works on time and within budget, the team is using the Topcon GTL-1000 to provide an accurate, integrated workflow throughout the Featherstone Building project.

We caught up with Neil, Head of BIM and Digital Engineering at Skanska, to see how things are going on phase one of the project.

“At Skanska, we’ll be introducing the Topcon GTL-1000 to provide accuracy of build throughout The Featherstone Building Project. We’re providing real time analysis on a day-to-day basis, to verify what we’re building and to support our supply chain contractors in the works they carry out for us.

“The GTL-1000 provides integrated workflows that speed up the process of analysis, from taking a scan out on site and uncovering issues to be able to plan remedial action if necessary. It’s such a quick workflow for us, and a quick win, supporting us in de-risking our works as we move forward in phases of the project build.

“The training Topcon provided on the GTL-1000 was different to anything we have experienced before, as the instrument itself is unique. Providing a natural ease of use, it’s quick to set up and offers a rapid scanning time, quick processing, and fast analysis of the data that we are reviewing. It provides us with reassurance and supports our drive for quality on every project.

“Verifying and validating what we actually build on site is of paramount importance to Skanska and our clients, also helping to support our supply chain and maximise their work time on projects – making sure we deliver on time, every time.”
