New European Monitoring Business Development Manager

CAPELLE AAN DEN IJSSEL, The Netherlands, 24th July 2014 – Chris Emery joins Topcon Corporation as European business development manager for monitoring.

Emery will be responsible for supporting the expansion and growth of Topcon monitoring business activities, working closely with the subsidiary companies and distributors for Topcon Europe Positioning.

Ian Stilgoe, director of geomatics, said, “I am very pleased that Chris has decided to join our growing team of monitoring experts to help our customers take advantage of the solutions Topcon can offer in this sector. His past experience on major projects will add a new dimension to the advice and support Topcon can provide its customers.”

Emery’s position follows the previous appointment earlier in 2014 of Jim Woodhams as senior business development manager for monitoring, and demonstrates the continued commitment to this technical and growing sector of the industry.

Graduating from the University of Leeds (UK) with a BSc (Hons) degree in geological sciences, Emery took up a role with one of the UK’s largest instrumentation and monitoring organisations.

Over the past four years he moved from project engineer on the London Crossrail contract, through to project manager on two multi-million pound contracts involving large networks of Topcon MS AX monitoring total stations in highly sensitive areas of central London. The past twelve months has included a secondment to Singapore to help grow a monitoring department.

On his new role, Emery said, “Joining Topcon was an easy decision for me, it is clear how excited and focussed the company is on growing their presence in the monitoring market. Combining this ambition with existing world class products and software that’s available, then it makes for a terrific prospect and one which I will really enjoy speaking to clients, customers and partners about.”
