How to set up Magnet Field to do slope staking.

MAGNET FIELD: Setting up for Slope Staking

  • From Main menu of Magnet Field select and press Edit.
  • Select and press the Road and Trenches,
  • Select and press Horizontal,
      • In Start Point Tab:
        • Enter a name for the alignment
        • Select a starting point for the alignment
      • Press the Elements Tab:
        • Press Add
        • Select the segment type you want to add
          • Line
          • Curve
          • E Spiral (Euler Spiral)
          • CP Spiral (Cubic Parabola Spiral)
          • Intersection Point
        • Select line
        • Enter the length of the line
        • Enter the azimuth of the line
        • Press Green Check Mark to accept
        • Continue adding segments until the alignment is complete
        • When done adding segments press Green Check Mark to accept
      • Select the Alignment you want to use
      • Press Back arrow
  • You are back to Roads and Trenches Menu
  • Select and Press Vertical
    • Press Add
        • Enter a name
        • Select the VAL (Vertical Alignment) type
          • Length and Grade
          • Station and Elevation
        • Press Green Check Mark
      • In Start Point Tab:
        • Select a starting point for the alignment
        • Enter the elevation
      • Press the Elements Tab:
        • Press Add
        • Select the segment type you want to add
          • Vertical Grade
          • Parabola
          • Circular Arc
        • Select Vertical Grade
        • Enter the length of the grade
        • Enter the grade
        • Press Green Check Mark to accept
        • Continue adding segments until the alignment is complete
        • When done adding segments press Green Check Mark to accept
      • Select Vertical Alignment
      • Press Back arrow
  • You are back to Roads and Trenches Menu
  • Press and Select Templates
    • You can select a template if you have one created.
    • Or Press add to create a new template
      • Enter the name of your template
        • Enter the catch slopes (These are the slopes that will be used to get to existing grade at the end of your template)  They are in percent so ratio slopes will need to be converted to slope percentages.
        • Press Add
        • Enter  the name of the end point of the cross-section segment.  (The Cross section is built from the Centerline out, each segment attaches to the end of the previous segment)
        • Enter the horizontal distance
        • Enter the up or down distance for that segment
        • Press the Green Check Mark to accept that segment
        • Continue adding segment until you get to the point that the catch slopes will get you back to existing grade.
        • After all segments have been entered press the Green Check Mark
    • Select the template that you want to use.
    • Press the back arrow.
  • You are back to Roads and Trenches Menu
  • Press and Select X-Sections
    • Press Add
    • Press Add
      • Enter the beginning station for the cross sections
      • Select which side of CL
        • Both
        • Right Only
        • Left Only
      • Select the templates to be applied to the side/sides.
      • Press the Green Check Mark
      • Enter a name for the Cross Section set
      • Press the Green Check Mark
      • Select the Cross section set you wish to use
      • Press the back arrow
  • You are back to Roads and Trenches Menu
  • Press and Select Roads and Trenches
    • Press Add
    • In the Alignment Tab
      • Enter the of the Road/Trench you wish to stake
      • Select the Layer that want to put it on.
      • Select the Horizontal Alignment you are using
      • Select the Vertical Alignment
      • Enter the start
      • Enter the interval
    • In the Surface Tab
      • Select the X-Sec Set
      • Press Green Check Mark
      • Select the Road you want to use
      • Press the back arrow
  • You are back to Roads and Trenches Menu
  • Press Home button

Press the Map icon

  • Select the roadway that you wish to Slope Stake.
    • Press and Hold then select Stake Slope
    • Select the starting station
    • Select the interval that you want to stake
  • Select the slopes that will go from the end of  the template to the catchpoint.  You can use what was in the template or you can enter slopes.
    • Press the Stake button
