Topcon Ireland Joins Thousands of Exhibitors at Ploughing 2023
Our Topcon Ireland team was back on the road recently, supporting a number of our dealers and technology partners at the biggest outdoor event in Europe – the National Ploughing Championships.
Taking place from Tuesday 19th to Thursday 21st September, the three-day event saw over 200,000[JG1] visitors flock to the National Ploughing Association’s event site in Ratheniska, County Laois – armed with their waterproof coats, hats and wellies!
As well as the annual ploughing competition and a whole host of indoor and outdoor exhibitions, visitors had the chance to see the latest agriculture and construction technologies in action.
Weighing with Wel-Tech
Visitors could find the Topcon Ireland team and show truck on the Wel-Tech stand – along with a host of technologies designed to improve accuracy and efficiency and to maximise yield. Among these were the Loadmaster Alpha 10, 50 and 100 on-board weighing systems for large loaders. Designed to operate in the toughest of conditions, the solutions reduce cycle times and boost productivity, with an intuitive interface and target load feature that allow less experienced operators to do things right first time.
Topcon’s auto-steering guidance technology was also on display on the stand, while the team from Toptech Survey Solutions were on hand to demonstrate the benefits of Topcon’s range of lasers and field controllers.
Steering to success with Kubota
Topcon Ireland’s Agriculture Account Sales Manager, Will Doyle[JG2] , found shelter from the rain with our new technology partner – Kubota. As well as being able to grab a free tea or coffee, visitors to the stand had the chance to learn more about Topcon’s guidance and auto-steer options.
Following an initial launch at LAMMA earlier this year, our new partnership with Kubota will see the manufacturer offer auto-steering solutions for its M-series tractors throughout Europe. The kits include Topcon’s AGS-2 receiver and, where needed, AES-35 motorised steering wheel to replace the tractor steering wheel, and customers will have the choice of a range of guidance screens, including the XD and XD+ in-cab display systems.
Machine Control Masterclass
Over on what McHale Plant Sales Ltd has said was its biggest ever National Ploughing Championships stand, event attendees had the chance to see Topcon’s MC-MAX machine control technology and GX-75 screen fitted to a Komatsu PC130LC-11.
The Topcon MC-MAX excavator system simultaneously delivers position and grade guidance, constantly interacting with available GNSS constellations to track the excavator’s position on the planet, while sensors track the bucket’s relation to the target grade. 3DMC software provides the operator with the information they need to control the machine, work around structures, or make complex cuts or blind excavations.
Despite the torrential rain of the first day and subsequent muddy site, the event saw an incredible number of people pass through the gates across the three days – 200,500 to be precise. Thank you to everyone who came to the Wel-Tech, Kubota and McHale Plant Sales stands – we’re looking forward to seeing you all again soon!
