Shaping the future of geospatial technology at INTERGEO 2023
What a week! The Topcon team have packed up our kit after a busy few days at INTERGEO Expo & Conference in Berlin, Germany — kit that includes a host of innovative new technologies that are helping to make the geospatial industry work faster, more accurately, and more sustainably.
It wasn’t just new technology that was on show, though, as we announced several exciting partnerships that will see us collaborating to make a difference on more projects and explore new applications for geospatial technology.
Reflecting on the week, Luc Le Maire, Senior Vice President & General Manager for Positioning Solutions, EMEA at Topcon, said: “It’s a really exciting moment for the geospatial industry and for Topcon, with new opportunities emerging across the construction sector and beyond.
“INTERGEO provided the perfect opportunity for us to demonstrate not only how our technology is helping to build a more productive and sustainable future for businesses across multiple industries, but also how new applications will support the emergence of next-generation solutions.”
Don’t worry if you couldn’t make it – here are a few of the main events:
Unveiling the LN-50
Attendees got their hands on the latest addition to our LN layout navigator family of instruments, the LN-50 3D laser. The user-friendly and affordable solution for digital layout was a huge hit with small contractors looking — regardless of their digital technology experience — to achieve high-speed precision in their measuring and layout work.
A first look at HiPer CR
We also gave guests an exclusive pre-launch peek at HiPer CR – soon to join our portfolio of high accuracy receivers including the HiPer HR and VR. Designed for centimeter-level RTK accuracy, it provides multi-constellation tracking for professionals engaged in a wide variety of applications in the surveying, construction, engineering, forestry, and mining industries. Watch this space for the full launch.
Joining the dots with Aptix
Our Aptix integration platform was another popular solution on show. Bringing our technology and workflow solutions together with third-party applications under one roof, it provides a seamless link between the office and jobsite. Crucially, it generates insights for construction teams within one platform, ensuring the as-built is as-planned, and the project meets both profitability and sustainability goals.
Celebrating new and existing partnerships
INTERGEO also provided an opportunity for us to get together with both new and long-standing partners in the industry. It was the perfect time to announce our new collaboration with global testing, inspection and certification provider SOCOTEC. The agreement will see us provide our specialized monitoring technology to SOCOTEC for infrastructure projects in France, the Netherlands, Spain and the UK, helping the built environment better understand the integrity, sustainability, and performance of its assets.
Our recent partnership with Vodafone was also in the spotlight, as part of an exclusive talk by Senior Manager for Emerging Business EMEA, Tarja Musch, on the INTERGEO Expo stage. The talk explored the evolving role of geopspatial technology and its applications for next-generation tech – from autonomous vehicles to utility robots – that will play a central role in a smarter future.
