Topcon unveils MAGNET v2.5
Topcon Positioning Group announces an update to its cloud-based enterprise solution and cloud-enabled family of software applications. The MAGNET™ v2.5 system update includes additional new software products and services, new timesaving functions, and numerous enhancements to existing features.
“MAGNET is revolutionizing how projects are completed through ease of communication and data sharing,” said Jason Hallett, vice president of software product management. It is a self-managed system within a user’s private, cloud-based company account.
“Utilizing the cloud, MAGNET can quickly share data files to and from the office. But more than that, a company can now efficiently work within assigned geo-referenced projects, instantly visualizing work being done at multiple project sites, tracking assets and much more,” Hallett said.
A key new addition is MAGNET Mobile Exchange v2.5 software. It allows either project managers or mobile field crews to start with dissimilar file types and task their private cloud to then combine the data into a single file that can be shared. “MAGNET Mobile Exchange v2.5 allows crews and companies to become much more efficient by standardizing multiple file types to a format that is easily sharable between mixed equipment brands,” said Hallett. “This powerful free feature can be used from either a mobile device or personal computer.”
Another new software system is MAGNET Field Layout. It is designed to pair with the new Topcon LN-100 to speed all types of construction layout. “The pairing of MAGNET Field Layout with the LN-100 makes one-person layout a breeze,” said Hallett.
“Project team members can easily access and share information via their company’s secure cloud-based account like never before. Through a cloud-surfing connection from MAGNET Enterprise to Autodesk’s AutoCAD 360 service, DWG files with potential updates to design information can now be sent directly to mobile workforce crews on a project site.”
Another major addition is MAGNET Field GIS collection software, which also shares the ability to connect a customer’s private, cloud-based company account for instant file sharing from the office to any project site. ”It is a purpose-built version of MAGNET Field software that dramatically enhances the productivity of GIS field professionals thanks to its incredible data-sharing capabilities for instant connectivity to the vast amount of information that may already be on file,” Hallett said.
MAGNET users that are currently covered within their software maintenance period are eligible to update to the 2.5 version of their product today.
