MAGNET Office: Using Layer Groups

• Click the View tab at the top of the MAGNET Office screen. The Groups Icon will be located in the Layer Control Group of the ribbon.

• Click the Groups Icon, a Layer Group Settings prompt will appear.
  • Group Name – This field will show the current groups within the current project. The default groups are
    • Design
    • Existing
    • Misc
• Selecting one of these groups from the drop-down list will display a list that show associated layers of the selected group.

• Add Layer 
  • Click the Add Layer button
    • Select layers by clicking the desired layer.
    • Create a new layer within the group by entering the name of the layer and clicking OK.
  • Please note, the check marks under Active do not add layers to the selected Group. The layer name must be highlighted to be selected as part of the group.

• Remove Layer – removes layer from group.
  • Select the group from which the desired layers need to be removed. The layers that are current within that group will appear in the box below description.

• Invert Selection - Selection within the layer list will be inverted. Selected layers will no longer be selected, layers that were unselected will now be selected.
• Select All - Selects all layers within the current layer list
• Invert On/Off - Function will make active layers inactive. This will also make inactive layers active in the current layer list.
• On - Activates selected layer within current layer list. This does not apply to global layer settings. This will only apply to the current group.
• Off - Deactivates currently selected layer within current layer list. This does not apply to global layer settings. This will only apply to the current group.

• New -- Creates new layer group
• Reset -- Click to discard all recent unsaved changes.
• Rename -- Rename current layer group
• Delete -- Delete current layer group
• Copy from Lib -- Copy previously saved group settings from the MAGNET Office library
• Save to Lib -- Save current group settings to MAGNET Office library

Additional options from the drop-down menu, underneath the Groups Icon

• Add to Group – The prompt will ask what Group to assign the layer.
  • Can remove the layer from other groups.

• Display/Hide Group – Select what layer groups to display or to hide.
  • Can also activate all layers within the selected layer group.
  • Turn on or off all of the other layers.

• Add to Group - Design/Existing/Misc – add selected layers to group selected.
  • Custom layer groups are not an option. Only the default layer groups are listed.
• Display Group – Design/Existing/Misc – turns on all layers within selected layer group.
• Hide Group – Design/Existing/Misc – turns off all layers within selected layer group

A few of the layer group options are available under the Model Tab.

• Click the Model Tab, the Layer Group will be available on the left side of the ribbon
  • Available Options
    • Add to Group
    • Display/Hide Group
    • Assign Layer to Group
    • Color Settings

• Assign Layer to Group – opens a menu on the left side of the screen showing all the layers within the project. From this menu, choose a layer group for each layer.

• Color Settings
  • Displays all assigned layers within the default layer groups.
  • Displays the unelevated objects in a recognizable color
  • To activate this option, click the checkbox “Assign Colors when Elevated.”
  • To deactivate, click the Color Settings button from the ribbon.
